ok,so im 17 and i just found out that my cholesterol level is 50 points higher than what it needs to be and my triglicerids are way too high too,and thats really unhealthy for my age, and yes, i am overweight. i need to find a way to lose weight, lower my cholesterol and eat differently. i know i need to cut out sodas, candy, sweets, all junk. but i’d like to find a good enjoyable diet, and a fun way to exercise because when i exercise i tend to get bored and then not do it again the next day and then the days after that. So i will need like a daily/weekly exercise routein that has different things everyday so that i dont get bored. Then just need good healthy food ideas. 3 Main Indicators for Healthy Cholesterol

3 Main Indicators for Healthy Cholesterol.

First let’s find out what is cholesterol? Cholesterol is a fatty substance; it’s called a lipid, that’s produced by the liver. Cholesterol can be found in foods high in saturated fat, like fatty meats, egg yolks, shellfish, and whole-milk dairy products. Our bodies do need cholesterol to function. It’s a vital part of the structure and functioning of our cells, certain hormones need this for formation.

Cholesterol travels through the bloodstream packaged inside a protein called a lipoprotein. There are two kinds.

LDL known as “bad” cholesterol. If you have too much LDL–C in your bloodstream, it can be dangerous to your health and can lead to serious conditions. That’s why it’s so important to talk to your doctor. HDL carries cholesterol throughout the bloodstream as HDL-C, also known as “good” cholesterol because it helps return cholesterol to the liver, where it can be eliminated from the body.

Here are 3 main things doctors evaluate when you have a blood test for cholesterol. They look at LDL “bad” cholesterol, HDL “good” cholesterol, and triglycerides.

Factors that impact cholesterol management.

Having high cholesterol may depend, partly on your family history. Some people inherit genes associated with elevated levels of cholesterol. This is called familial hypercholesterolemia. People who have this genetic predisposition may eat a healthy diet and exercise, and still have high cholesterol.

All of us need to manage high cholesterol, but some people may be at a higher risk such as:

People who smoke, males over age 45,females over age 55, people with diabetes, people with high blood pressure, people with a personal or family history of heart disease.

If you fall into any of the categories above, talk to your doctor to discuss how your target cholesterol level may be impacted, and what you can do to minimize any cholesterol-related concerns. People are finding great success using a nutritional product called mangosteen. The greatest concentration of beneficial xanthones is found in the pericarp (the thick outer peel of the fruit) – not just the pulp – of this extraordinary fruit. Mangosteen MD studies have shown that Xanthones from the pericarp in the mangosteen fruit reduce the oxidation of the LDL. If LDL is not oxidized then fibrous plaques do not form. The sad thing about high cholesterol is that People usually don’t have any symptoms they can feel. It’s so important that you work with your doctor to get your cholesterol right.

Cholesterol levels may change over time, so be sure to get your cholesterol tested at least once every 5 years. If you haven’t had a test recently, call your doctor and make an appointment.

If you decide to try mangosteen juice, take it consistently 30 to 90 days, and then retest your cholesterol levels to see if there has been any improvement. There are over 24 varieties of mangosteen juice. Out of the 24 XanGo is #1, because it is the only mangosteen juice that purees the whole fruit of the mangosteen juice.

Is Low-intensity Exercise Good?

I am a 63 year old male, obese (5’9, 245 pounds), out of shape, with diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and I had a mild stroke 3 years ago. I am belatedly trying to improve my health through diet and exercise, instead of the dang medicines that cause a lot of side-effects. I recently purchased a lot of home exercise equipment, and I am starting to exercise for hours at a time, but at a very low level. At this point, I want to just burn off calories, and I don’t want to overdo it and have a heart attack. So … if I do very light exercises for several hours per day, will that be helpful? It seems like a good comparison is walking: some experts say that walking a mile is just as good as running a mile, and it seems like the same principle would apply to other exercises.
