Should I Donate Bone Marrow?
I asked this question previously. But I had the prescreen tests done. Though I was a perfect match for that 15 year old girl, I ran into a snag. Turns out my creatine level is too low for donating. I was told my creatine level could be raised to an acceptable in 6 months by a high protein diet especially meat. But the sad fact the clock quits in five weeks with my 61st birthday. I did try to get them to proceed in spite of it, but can’t alter policy. I only had the basics but it appears I would not regenerate the losses from the donation. Anyway, I thought I would return this last time to say that it did not turn out I could do it anyway. So the request I had of being recognized for the donation is moot. I hope they find another for her. If it were possible to make the donation 6 months from now I certainly would make the effort. Fact is they need more slack in cutoff points. I do gather that creatine and cholesterol seem to follow fairly close and raising and lowering either takes a matter of months. Bad part is everything else on me looked good. Looks like thats what I get on the Poor Man’s Diet.
Vegetarians..what Should I Do, Start Doing Or Change?
So for the past six months i had this problem of everytime i was done eating i felt like i was choking and i could not breathe… So after ignoring it and saying that it is no big deal.. this got worst so i immediately thought that i probably have high cholesterol, (LDL) so i went online and did some research and at least two people said that it was not high cholesterol but it was Hiatal Hernia, so i finally went to the doctor to check my cholesterol and sadly i was right, the results showed that i have a 205 of LDL, the average is 170. so i changed my diet to semi-vegetarian= so i CUT OUT all red meat and all dairy products except for chicken, egg whites, and low- fat milk. what else should i do.. also i didn’t tell my doctor about this, i just said that i needed my cholesterol checked but i am thinking of giving him another visit tomorrow again, because eventhough i stopped eating meat two days ago i still feel like i’m choking when i eat just rice so i just wanted to know since i changed my diet, what foods can i buy when i go grocercy shopping tomorrow. Vegetarians what do you eat??
Also i have never smoked or drank alcohol.. i drink lots of water and i love fruit so i eat a good bit of it.
What Type Of Foods Should I Eat? Doctor Just Told Me That…?
My A1C was 5.7 after a test done December 20 because of frequent urination (not waking up at night & no other diabetes symptoms though). I had a follow-up done last week and my A1C came back as 6.1
He’s attributing this to me either become insulin resistant (I think that’s what it’s called) or because I eat way too many carbs for my body to provide enough insulin for me. I’m in otherwise good shape, I’m 6′1″, 180 lbs, 16 years old. My grandfather had diabetes though and he died of a heart attack when he was 50-something.
My blood glucose both times have come back at 83 which my doctor said is perfectly fine. My cholesterol is good at 125 and my good cholesterol is actually a bit above normal levels (if that matters).
I admit that I do eat a lot of bread. (2-6 slices a day, I eat chicken wraps (the wrap) and soft pretzels at school. I eat a lot of pineapple and grapes and plums. And my mom makes pasta (mac & cheese, spaghetti, ziti) all the time. Those all have carbs. I eat a lot because I feel that, since I look good on the outside and do athletics, I can’t possibly be being that affected on the inside.
Apparently, I am though… So… I’m definitely changing my eating habits now. He says that because my blood glucose had never been above 100, there was no sugar found in my urine, and I show no other symptoms; he’s pretty sure that I do not have Type 2 diabetes… yet. My doctor’s recommended a no-to-low carb diet.
That’s like chicken… salad/veggies… cheese, even… right?
I need some help. I’m trying to get through this before this problem escalates.
Thanks so much if you read this all and provide insight.
Should I Be Eating Egg Yolks?
I just recently heard Jennifer Aniston lost 5 lbs in 5 days and part of her diet included eating egg whites with vegetables. I am not trying to diet or anything but I do want to eat healthy and low fat.
Are egg yolks fattening? High in cholesterol? Is the jury still out on that one? What nutritional value do they have?
